While venturing to Brooklyn today with a friend, I had not planned on eating Venezuelan food. However while on the way to our destination, we stumbled upon this hidden gem. Settled into the corner of Troutman and Irvine, Guacuco Arepera caught my eye. It's exterior was plain but somehow enticing, and my love of all Latin food drew me in. So, I decided on the chicken empanada and was glad I did! Biting into it provides the one with a plethora of delicious textures and flavors. The outside of the corn flour dough was slightly crispy, while the inside was soft and fluffy in its unique way. The simplicity of the dough lets the complex flavor of the chicken shine through, while the mild spice of the guasacaca sauce ties it all together.
